Scope: Today, seat actuation systems are very complex. These arrangements consist of several actuators, reading lights, pneumatic systems, massage units, panels etc. Therefore, a reliable power supply is indispensable.
Challenge: Typically, a major part of the downstream power distribution and intelligence of the seat are integrated within the power supply. Aircraft manufacturers like Boeing and Airbus require aircraft specific connectors, as well as having their own specific certification processes. As such, individual customer requirements and specification leads to an even greater variation in power supplies. Many variants of a similar power supply are filling up stocks and not cost effective. The entire system becomes inflexible, with adaption, redesign and requalification increasing overheads and TTM.
Solution: Our engineers have engineered a modular concept that significantly reduces diversity, weight and certification expenses.

My name is Uwe Weigele… … and I am from a family of airmen and pilots. After finishing my apprenticeship as a radio- and TV technician I studies telecommunication and management. I optimized my first aircraft power supply in 1987, which powered the crash recorder for the MRCA tornado! Our company- Weigele Scientific, was founded in 1997 and Weigele Aerospace was started as a spin-off in 2016. Personally, I design many devices from scratch- most of which are power supplies for aircraft application. For each of our designs, we have prepared, documented and performed all certification tests successfully. For our customers, we have conducted and documented complete certification test campaigns ranging from basic reading lights up to complete secondary flight control units. Our ultimate goal is to assist the aircraft community in realizing its full potential and leading the dream of flight to its perfection. Therefore, we are investing actively in research and development, regardless of subventions and customer demands. |
